Last Summer Adventure - SHARK TOOTH HUNTING!

I remember thinking that I should post this, the day that we did it......CLEARLY, that didn't happen.

Matthew had wanted to go shark tooth hunting again. We had only done it one other time. He mentioned it once and then I forgot about it. He mentioned it again, so then I figured, oh he would really like to do that.

We decided to go the day before school started. We drive about 45-60 minutes away to a state park and it is known for having quite a few shark teeth, but you have to really search for them.

You have to walk about .5 of a mile down to the ocean first....

It was actually a pretty chilly day, we should have come more in July or August...

Matthew found his first Shark Tooth within the first 10 minutes of looking.

He also found this super tiny crab!!!

 Matthew found about 6 shark teeth altogether. Allison never did find one. She wanted to find one so badly. Matthew came over to me, got one of his, went back and sneakily asked to see Allison's strainer and planted the shark tooth in it. He gave it back and then a minute later SHE FOUND A SHARK TOOTH!!! That was VERY nice of Matthew to do that. We never did tell her that Matthew planted it there, but that was sweet thing he did. I have to write these things down, because they don't happen very often. 

Always Loved Doing Hair

I have always loved doing, hair....other people's hair. I remember French Braids so many girls's hair in class, especially when we watched a movie. Afterward there would be about 6 girls with their hair French braided.

I forgot that I also did my doll's hair, until I started playing with Michelle's small braids that I put in her hair. I was so fascinated with how they felt, and then it made me remember that it was like my doll's hair. After saying that a few times, I finally went and found my doll for the girls. It was really funny to me, that when I found her, her hair had been in French Braids!! One of the rubber-bands had broken in the last 25+ years since I had put them in, so one side had come out.....but I put it back in, don't you worry:)

Back when I was pregnant with Michelle and Allison was 6 years old, I gave her my water baby that I had when I was a little girl. I LOVED that thing! You can put warm water in it and it will actually sort of feel like a real baby, kind of, a little bit. So Allison and Michelle started playing with her doll and my doll. 

I started taking ALL of the baby stuff out of the attic and going through it to sell or give away. Some of the Preemie and Newborn clothes kind of, sort of, fit the dolls and so I let Allison pull out whatever clothes she wanted us to keep. 

Each day she would put pajamas on it at night and then put it in a different outfit the next day. It did seem a little weird to me, because she is 12 and probably shouldn't be playing with them, but it seemed REALLY weird to Chris.

Hopefully, it just means that she will be really motherly.

 

Allison's Laptop FINALLY came!

I was naïve and didn't know that know that there were different types and materials of masks. The kind we had, were hard to wear but I just figured, they are a mask, they are all hard to wear. Allison couldn't wear one for more than a couple minutes so she decided she needed to do virtual school even though she loves being with her teacher SOOO much.

After seeing Michelle, get to meet her teacher and then all the back to school hype, even though I asked her NUMEROUS times before if she wanted to go to Face-to-face, she always said she wanted to still do virtual.....UNTIL Thursday before school started on Tuesday. Even though school wasn't starting until Tuesday we were getting worried Allison's laptop wouldn't arrive. (All of the middle schoolers were suppose to get laptops this year anyways, but because of Covid, they sent all of those to everybody that is doing Virtual. The next order of laptops should arrive in December and then ALL students grades 3+ should have laptops, no matter if they are face-to-face or virtual. Matthew is very excited about that.)

Allison's laptop finally arrived Saturday before school started.

I was really tempted to open it, but I resisted and let her open it since it had her name on it and it was for her anyways.

They are Chrome books and seem pretty light.

 

The Richmond Temple's Foundation

With our Richmond, Virginia Temple getting built, we had the opportunity to paint rocks and then they will put into the foundation of the Temple! Isn't that really cool? We were not nearly as creative or talented as some of these other rocks but it was fun to see them.

It is just a really cool thing that they let us be apart of to make it more "ours".

Allison's 12 year old Photoshoot

It has been so long since I have updated this, I can't even remember if I posted anything about the first time we tried to take photos of Allison. We went to a place we take pictures a lot, that has a pretty waterfall, but OH MY GOODNESS!! The fish could tell it was 2020 as well, because there were SO many dead fish all over the place and it STUNK!!! We only did a couple photos and then we just had to get out of there and do it another time. I didn't make her curl her hair for this photoshoot, but oh well. She does have a little natural wave.

 

I think this one might be one of my favorites....

I think I can ALMOST see a little bit of a younger version of me in this picture....?
