The positive aspect of being sick
I have been sick for the last couple days with fevers and chills and not only sore throat but my whole neck hurting, and body aches along with ear aches. (Luckily I never got the throwing up like my kids did but maybe that is still to come.) I realized that I had some posts that needed to be finished so I took the time of being laid up to update my blog. That is the positive of being sick.
Preschool Graduate
It was so cute that the last day of preschool Teacher Allison made the kids little graduation caps with tassels. I thought they were adorable. They even got diplomas.
Matthew "graduated" from Little Aggie Preschool but will be going to preschool again next year...hmmm does that seem right? Haha just kidding. Matthew has been in this preschool for the past two years, which means yes, he started when he was only 2.5 years old. Four other moms and I started our own preschool for our little ones in the fall of 2008, taking turns teaching each week (T and Th). This year I knew I wasn't going to be able to put the time into preparing the lessons since I started back to school last fall so I was the designated babysitter. Every mom/teacher had a younger child or two that I would babysit while they taught. I think it worked out really well. This year we actually bought Mother Goose curriculum so they didn't have to come up with everything on their own. Matthew learned how to write, draw and read this year. Part of it may be because he was a year older so now he is more coordinated to write more letters and numbers but I was very impressed with his reading, and sounding words out. Since some of Matthew's class is old enough to go into Kindergarten next year we are not continuing our preschool next year so Matthew will be going to a public preschool. So he did graduate from one and is moving onto another one.

Unfortunately we were missing one from our class photo:(

Fire Station Field Trip
At the beginning of May, Matthew's preschool group went on a field trip to a fire station in College Station. I have always wanted to go to a firestation so I was super stoked to go with Matthew.
(Another place I want to go tour is a Police Station, come on Matthew, when is that field trip?:)
We we pulled up there were about 20 firemen all outside, I think they were doing some training or something. We all went inside to their "family room" and one of the firemen started putting his uniform on to help the kids realize that it was just a normal guy inside all of that stuff. I didn't realize that some kids are scared of firemen when they have their gear on because they sort of look like a monster with that mask. I really enjoyed learning about everything they had to wear, and the safety precautions that they have like a little beeper/alarm that goes off if it doesn't detect movement after about 30 seconds I think that way if something happens to a firefighter it helps others know where to find him if they can't holler for help. The kids got to listen to an alarm go off and then we had a little fire drill and had to crawl under "smoke" (a gray blanket) to get out of the house.

After we did our firedrill, another fireman took us on a tour of the station. We got to see where they hang out at nights, eat, workout and sleep. As he was explaining why they need to exercise, the 911 dispatch came on and we got to experience a real life fire call. The fireman immediately stopped talking and just took off. They only have a minute or two to be dressed and on their trucks leaving once a call comes in. Our tour coordinator opened the blinds and let us watch them leave with their sirens on. It must give the firefighters a rush, unless their used to it, but it definitely made my heart start beating faster. It was so cool to just see it all happen so fast and know it was real. It was a chemical fire on campus but nobody got hurt so it was a good experience.
It was so fun to have that tour. I hope the kids enjoyed it as much as I did.

A New Favorite
Corn on the Cob
I have always loved corn on the cob and can eat many of them. I could even have that as my only thing for dinner. Yummy!!
Anyways, since it has been on sale lately we have been eating a lot more of it. When we first started buying it this season I would cut the kernels off for the kids. I for some reason didn't think the Allison would be able to eat it off of the cob. One night I finally just gave it to her and she LOVED it. She was so cute eating it. She does a better job at getting all the kernels then Matthew does. We eat it so much and I love watching her eat it every time. She is just a cute girl:)

Bluebonnet Photos
The Texas state flower is the Bluebonnet. Since I have been here I feel like I have to get a picture of the kids in the bluebonnets. I think I feel like if I don't then I am not a good Texas mom or something like that. They are pretty pictures but the hard thing it to find a whole field of them that isn't dangerous to get to, meaning right off of hwy or major road. The other sad thing is that even though you find a good stop one year, that doesn't mean it will be there the next year, at least that is what I have experienced.
I kept putting these pictures off and off but finally on April 21 I decided to go do pictures since it was Matthew's birthday and I always like getting good pictures on their birthdays. We drove to a couple different spots that I had seen previously that were really nice but it was toward the end of the flowers. I always think that since they are a wild flower, they last forever but they really don't. I really need to go the end of March/beginning of April, not the end of April. We finally just came back to a little, little place that had some, but had trees in the background so it was a somewhat good photo spot.
I didn't really take a ton of pictures since I had many things to do that day but I at least got some. It really makes me sad that my baby boy is growing up:( Pretty soon he isn't going to be a cute little boy anymore, he will just be a young boy.

Matthew's 4th Birthday Party
Last year for Matthew's birthday party I stayed up all night decorating his Lightning McQueen cake. After I finished the cake, I still had to decorate and clean up my house. Thankfully my friend Janine came over early and helped me clean my house before the party. Only hours after the cake was finished we cut into it. I was a little sad that it didn't last long, but I was also definitely way over tired and didn't have the patience or enjoy the party. I just wanted it over.
This year I didn't want to stay up the whole night before and do a repeat of last year. Since I can only start decorating the cake when the kids go to sleep it is a long night.
Since I mom was here 2 weeks before Matthew's birthday, I decided to have his party early so he could enjoy having Grandma here and so I could also use her help. The party was set for Wednesday so I stayed up Monday night until 4:30am decorating the cake but then my mom got up with the kids in the morning and I got to sleep in. It was so So SO wonderful. I also got to look at my decorated cake for more then just a couple hours, which was more rewarding. Matthew loves trains so this is what he got:

It was so nice having my mom here to help me decorate, get things ready for the party, and clean. She was also here to help with anything I needed during the party, including taking care of Allison when she was crying.
For some reason, even though it was Matthew's birthday party he was like this a lot:
He even got sent to timeout once or twice. I was glad to have me mom here to deal with him while I continued with the party.
There were so many things that I thought were flops but it is done and over with.
We had corn dogs, strawberries, and grapes for lunch with cake and individual ice creams for the dessert. Once we actually started serving lunch I think it went ok after that. I think Matthew sort of liked his cake.

A Better Mom
I had a really good conversation with my co-worker tonight. I am going to try to get my housework done at night, or while they are sleeping so that I can spend more time with them when they are awake. I need to enjoy them more and play with them more. This is my focus right now...until they wake up in the morning...haha just kidding. I hope it will last a long time but maybe that is why I am writing this, to help me remember to play and spend more quality time with them.

Allison's 18 Month Measurements
Allison loves doing these faces and I think they are cute and funny. She is such a sweet little girl but has her own attitude for sure.

In case I actually lose these measurements before I get them in her scrapbook, I want to post them on here.
Allison was 18 Months in February so were her measurements then:
Date: February 2, 2010
Inches: 33
Head: 47.5 cm
Weight: 25lbs 15oz

I Don't Understand:(
I like to make people happy. However, even though I try sometimes I just can't make people happy. Have you ever done something that even though you didn't want to do it, you did it anyways, to make that person happy and then it backfires on you anyways. I hate it when that happens. I just had an experience that though I didn't want to do something, I did it anyways to avoid making a person angry and they still got angry with me....ah, I can not win. It is so frustrating. There was another time, when I lived in AZ. I worked for All-Cut Concrete Cutting. Every once in awhile the owner would go get a bunch of gift cards to different places that gave us a lot of business. I had lots of work to do but had to go delivery these thank you gift cards anyways. Who wouldn't want a person coming to tell them Thank you and giving them a gift card. Well..., I got that someone that YELLED at me for not having an appointment with them to come give them that thank you and gift card...GRRR! Talk about making me excited to go give out thank you gift cards. It is so frustrating when you try to do something nice for something and you end up getting yelled at instead. Just makes me want to cry and not do nice things for people in case they yell at me.

Honest People
I am shocked and amazed right now. Back in the olden days people used to be more honest and friendly in general I think. When someone loses something it is usually gone now days.
Tonight Chris and I were going to have our weekly correlation meeting and I couldn't find my planner/wallet anywhere. We looked everywhere in the house and car and garage. After praying we finally decided to call H.E.B. since I had it there last night. I paid for our groceries so I obviously had it up until that point, but then I helped Matthew do his Buddy Bucks and I may have left it there or just in the cart in the parking lot. Either way, Chris called and they said they had it!!!! I zoomed (as fast as the speed limits let me) and ran into H.E.B. and sure enough they gave me my wallet/planner back. It still had my credit cards, debit card, driver's license, cash and gift cards all in it. I am deeply thankful to the person that turned it in without taking anything. I really wish I knew who it was so I could go personally thank them. I have definitely been blessed that an honest person found my wallet. Wow, I still can't believe it, but I am so thankful. After getting it back and walking to my car, I burst into tears and just sat in my car crying I was so happy and thankful.
