Gulf of Mexico Beach

Last summer when we stayed in D.C., we stayed with an unbelievable couple that were SO good to us. It was so fun to get to know Kenn and Donna and they just loved our children. They adopted our children as their grandchildren and Matthew calls them Grandma Donna and Grandpa Kenn. Kenn and Donna have a daughter that lives in Lake Jackson, TX and Donna came down to visit them and told me she wanted to see Matthew and Allison. Last Saturday we drove to Lake Jackson (2.5 hours) and got to see Grandma Donna.
Since her daughter only lives 20 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico we went to play down on the beach. We loved it. We have lived here for 5.5 years and have never gone to the beach so it was a first time. We bundled up when we first got there but it ended up being warmer then we thought. We spent 2.5 hours there just enjoying the beach, water, sand and each other. We are definitely planning another trip to the beach when it gets a little bit warmer.

Grammy Donna

Visiting with Grammy Donna was as if no time had actually passed since we had seen her last. Matthew definitely has a special connection with her. We kept telling him we were going to visit her but didn't say anything about what he should do when he sees her or how he should act. (Hopefully not shy) We went in the house and Grammy Donna came down the stairs and as soon as Matthew saw her he just went running to her and gave her a GREAT BIG hug. I was so happy that he was shy. It is so fun watching Grammy and Matthew interact together. Allison was a little shy at first but as you can tell, she warmed up to Grammy. We were so blessed to be able to stay with Grammy at their house this summer and build such a great relationship. I am glad that Grammy let us know she was close so we could go visit her.
When we came back from the beach we ate West Virginia dogs for lunch. I saw Kenn & Donna eat West Virginia dogs for lunch one day but I opted not to try any. You basically just make a regular hot dog with all the toppings you want and then you put chili on top of the hot dog and then coleslaw on top of the chili. It was actually really good. We will have to have those more often.

After lunch and hanging out visiting, we went to the Sea Center. They have a place that you can play in the water with seashells and look at crabs. Then they had a bunch of fish everywhere. This shark on the bottom of this aquarium didn't move a whole lot, and it just mesmerized Matthew.

Here is our little family with Grammy Donna. It was so much fun to see her for the day. It was so wonderful. Thanks for spending time with us, Grammy Donna.

You have got to be kidding me!

I bet you would never guess what I am doing right now. I am sitting in a computer lab on the campus of Texas A&M being forced to open a second life account. In fact, our teacher brought us down to the lab to open our account and we have to go to a beach party on Thursday night as part of our class. I am paying xxxxxx amount of dollars to be in a virtual place. This really is crazy! Does anybody else have a second life account...we could be friends:) Taking a college course and being forced to play computer animation. Wow, what am I getting myself into.
