Poor Little Boy

Matthew has had a little bit of a cold lately so we didn't let him go to nursery yesterday. Instead, he came in our class with us and loved that he was the center of attention and that he got to sit on a big boy chair. Then we went into the Primary room for the last hour of church. Matthew knows the pianist so we encouraged him to go say hi. Matthew went around the piano and a couple minutes later I heard him crying. Crying is nothing new to Matthew lately because he is such a two year old. GRR. Anyways, not thinking he was really hurt I just picked him up and put him on my shoulder trying to calm him down. He was really screaming so I figured he just got scared or something. Since he wouldn't calm down I finally took him out into the hall and tried to distract him by showing him pictures of Jesus on the wall, to no avail. I finally took a look at him and saw a HUGE bump on his forehead. I went into panic mode. It was the biggest thing coming out of a head I have ever seen and it was on my child. I thought I should put ice on it but it was so big I wasn't even sure that was the right thing to do. I seriously think it was sticking out about an inch. It was HUGE. As I walked/ran down the hall to the kitchen I passed the med student in our ward so I stopped to ask if putting ice on that huge thing was the right thing to do. We put ice on it but Matthew didn't enjoy it obviously. I finally took Matthew into the mother's lounge to try to rock him while I kept the ice on his head. He would let me occasionally but he would also cry and so then I would cry. What a sight, Matthew and I bawling our eyes out as I am trying to keep Matthew still and keep the ice on his head. One very sweet girl asked if there was anything she could do and I couldn't think of anything. Then she just pulled out a book and started reading it to Matthew. He stopped crying and listened to the story. (He has really been into books lately so it was the perfect thing she could have done.) Shortly after Matthew stopped crying I stopped as well. It is hard to see your child so hurt and crying for a reason. She left the book with us and Matthew wanted it read over and over. I was able to have the ice on his head for about 45 minutes and it took the swelling down quite a bit. Since it was ward conference, our new stake president was there and in his talk he happened to mention that he is a Pediatrician so once church was over I found him. He looked Matthew over and determined that he would be ok. However, he said the bruising may go down into his eye so not to worry if that happens. What a good day for Matthew to hit his head. We do have an ER Doctor in our ward as well that was there yesterday but I figured I would take him to the specialist since he was there. Yesterday afternoon Matthew got something from under the table and as he came up he hit that same spot again. It started swelling again so I got to sit with Matthew and watch Tarzan while holding the ice on his head. Poor little guy. He just has some bruising and most of the swelling has gone away. In this picture it doesn't look bad at all but it is on the right side of his forehead. Every time I looked at it yesterday it just made me hurt but today it looks so much better. He definitely had me wrapped around his finger and got everything he wanted but today he doesn't get everything so it is back to crying when he doesn't get something he wants. I couldn't get any good pictures of it today so this is the best one. I would not have wanted a picture of it when it was huge because it would be too painful for me to look at.

Matthew Laughing Video

I was in the other room when Matthew was eating his lunch and I started hearing him just laughing like crazy. I grabbed the video camera and went to capture his laughing. This video is a little hard to watch because I was trying not to be seen and then zoom in and it didn't work but the laughing is at least on here. When I realized what he was doing, I was not impressed. The big pieces were a lot funnier then the small pieces.

He normally drinks out of a sippy cup but his sippy cup with milk in it was nowhere to be found and the others were dirty so I gave him this one that just has holes in the lid. He obviously had fun but he made a huge mess. He only helped clean it up as much as you saw I got to do all the rest as he went down for his nap.
In case you didn't actually catch what he was doing: He had a sandwich for lunch and didn't eat all of it. He poured his milk on his plate and then dropped the big pieces of bread and it would splash. The part I captured he was out of big pieces and started using smaller pieces but they didn't make as big of a splash so it wasn't as funny. He had to start using his hand to make the big splash.
(I showed this video to Chris when he came home yesterday and Chris was dying laughing. Probably because he didn't have to clean it up:)

Tag, Your It!!

My friend Heather tagged me! So I thought I would play along since it was fun reading her answers.

1. What is his name? Christopher Campbell

2. How long have you been married? 5 Years

3. How long did you date? From 1st date to wedding day 5.5 months

4. Who eats more sweets? Me for sure

5. Who said “I love you“ first? Chris

6. Who is taller? Chris

7. Who can sing better? Me of course:) Just kidding Chris has a really good voice also he just doesn't like to sing as much as I do.

8.Who is smarter? Chris, by far

9. Who does the laundry? Right now I do but the 3 years before I started staying home with it was Chris. He actually does a better job then I do anyways.

10. Who pays the bills? Me

11.Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me

12. Who cooks dinner? Me most of the time unless I am too lazy and then Chris cooks. He is a really good cook and experimenter but he hates that it takes so long to make something and so little time to eat it. He doesn't think it is worth it.

13. Who drives? Usually on Saturdays, me. Chris hates the Saturday traffic. Sundays-Chris. Other times it depends on who is in the mood at the time.

17. Who proposed? Chris had my ring in his hands for probably less then 5 hours. He was so anxious to give it to me. Since we were in AZ he put the white ring box in a plastic bag in the clorean pool cleaner and he asked if I would help him clean the pool that night. I said sure, he pulled out the pool cleaner and told me to open it. So I did and I just saw a white clorean tablet inside and handed the cleaner back to him. He realized that I had no idea what it was so he pulled the bag out, pulled the white ring box out and then when he started getting down on one knee and opening the box did I finally realize what was going on.

18. Who wears the pants? I think we both have a leg in. We have a pretty equal marriage.

Well I think that is it so now I that am done I tag: Jami, Allison, and Dadra

Valentine Cookie Video

I don't really think this video is all that entertaining if you aren't the parent or grandparent. However, I thought I would post it for the grandparents since they all live so far away and don't get to see Matthew much.

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day I braved having Matthew help me make sugar cookies. I was actually quite surprised with how well he did and how much he wanted to help. However, because he is not as efficient with the dough, we rolled it out many, many times and it got way too much flour in it so when they cooked they became pretty hard, but Matthew still liked eating the cookie. It was fun doing a little project with him though. He even wanted to help with the clean up so I let him scrub the counter, if only that would last throughout the rest of his life, that would be awesome. For his little valentine's treat he got some M&Ms which he really likes and he got a dog(puppy) that barks 3 different songs when his mouth gets shut. Matthew loves it. A week or two ago, we went into JoAnn Fabrics and there was a shelf that had chicks, frogs, and this one lone puppy. Matthew loved the puppy and wasn't interested in the others. I distracted him and hid the puppy under my coat as we looked around for the reason we were there. When we went to the register, I pulled it out of my coat not letting Matthew see it. He went over to the shelf where it has previously been and said with his arms out "puppy go?" He was really wondering what happened to that puppy. A week or so later he got the puppy. He calls it bobby so it is bobby the puppy. The only thing Chris and I do for Valentine's Day is go out to eat and we still haven't been able to do that WITHOUT Matthew. Hopefully someday soon we can go out WITHOUT Matthew. I need a break from him to just have a date with Chris.

Do you see all the fingerprints in them?
Clean-upBobby the puppy has been found.

We LOVE H.E.B.

We got the banana today and I had my camera.
We were already really big fans of the grocery store H.E.B. but today it has become our favorite grocery store ever! I have always loved the fruit at H.E.B. along with everything else they offer and it is a nice clean store. Not only that but Matthew gets a balloon almost every single time we go. However, today while we were at the bananas, we saw the manager who has giving us previous coupons for different things. He is LDS and lives in College Station but manages the Bryan H.E.B. I just found out today that he is the Bishop of the student ward that attends our building. While I was talking to him, he asked Matthew if he liked bananas. Matthew LOVES bananas and we have to get some every time we get groceries. (Matthew wakes up saying nana, nana). The manager found a single banana, peeled it open for him and gave it to Matthew. Matthew was on cloud nine. He gave the guy a huge smile which just melted his heart. He told me that every time we come in, Matthew gets a free banana. He said just find a single banana and he can eat it in the store. If anybody asks about it just tell them that this manager said Matthew gets a banana every time he comes in. Wow! As he was leaving, Matthew gave him another huge smile and the banana just about fell out he had his mouth open so big. The manager just laughed and thanked Matthew for all the smiles he got and then left. I felt weird that my son was eating some of the produce while we were shopping but it was giving to him from the manager so what can I say. Matthew was so happy eating that banana I wished I had the camera with me but of course I didn't. We LOVE H.E.B.

Updated Finally

I have been really busy the last month trying to get quarterly reports and installer W2's done so I haven't posted anything in awhile. However, all those things are done, I still have employee W2's to get done by the end of the month but I don't feel quite as swamped as I did so I have finally updated our blog.
Enjoy

Family Fun

As some of you that talked to me on my birthday know that I had a squeaky voice. For some reason my voice wasn't all there. I thought it was hilarious and so I used it all day and of course I had to since I had to talk to people on the phone. However, Saturday morning when I woke up I did not have a voice at all. I used everything I had on my birthday. I went and played Volleyball that morning and it was the quietest game of Volleyball I had ever played in my life. I couldn't do any trash talking:) Just kidding, I never trash talk:)
On Sunday it still wasn't back so Chris had to give the whole lesson in our Sunday School class we teach together. We teach the 7-8 year olds. That afternoon Matthew wanted the to sing the Turtle song and Slippery Fish and since I couldn't sing, Chris ended up having to do it which he wasn't too excited about. He also had to make phone calls for me and had to answer all the phone calls we got and if it was for me I would whisper to him and he would talk to the person. He was sick of me not having a voice, however there was one good thing that came out of it for him. I like to sing, but Chris likes to hear the cd that is playing. There is one particular cd that I try so hard not to sing to but it comes out half-way through the song. He finally got to listen to the whole cd without me singing along to it. Even though he liked listening to the cd he wanted me to get my voice back soon.
That afternoon I was giving Matthew some crackers and wanted Chris to hold him. Matthew figured that it was really fun to feed his crackers to daddy. It was funny for me because I kept giving Matthew crackers and Chris didn't want to eat anymore but Matthew was forcing them in his mouth. "Polly want a cracker?" Chris finally said he needed something else that had a little more flavor so we got some animal crackers out. He started feeding them to Chris and then Matthew would suck on them and before Chris knew it Matthew stuffed the soggy animal cracker in his mouth. Chris was so disgusted by this and it was absolutely hilarious to me. (As I am writing this I am laughing:) Somehow it happened twice and finally Chris put his foot down and said no more. It was fun while it lasted though and I got some good pictures.
Say Cheese!

Happy 25th Birthday to me!

I am now a quarter of a century old! Wow, that is weird I am so old. I had an awesome special day though. In the morning a wanted to eat maple donuts for breakfast since it was my day, so I went out on a treasure hunt to find maple donuts. After the fourth store we finally found them. I was afraid after having to stop that many times and getting Matthew in and out they wouldn't be worth it but they sure were with my chocolate milk. I enjoyed my breakfast immensely. I decided it was my day off so I was a lazy bum all day besides the necessary mothering.
For a birthday celebration that night some friends decided we needed to have a little get together since it was my special birthday, the big 25 on the 25th, so that must mean that I am suppose to have a good year or something. They all pitched in and made an awesome Italian dinner. It was so good. THANKS GIRLS!! I especially loved the lasagna. It was really good and must have taken forever for her to make. After dinner we pulled out the rock band and had people playing guitar and drums which they had never played before. It was a fun time and loved feeling so special. Thank you to all of you that helped make my day special with cards, phone calls, presents, visits, treats, friendships and laughter. It made my day very special. Thanks again!
This card I got from my brother and it made me laugh so hard when I read it. Matthew was right by my side when I opened it so he saw me looking at it and laughing. Later in the day, I saw him with the card, looking at it and laughing. What a little character.Since I had to make so many cakes recently I didn't want another cake so I opted for brownies and ice cream instead. It was very yummy.I didn't want a picture taken just of me sitting there so I convinced little Elaina Trousdale to take a picture with me and she was quite happy to say cheese. Later she sang Happy Birthday to me all by herself. Once again I needed someone else to take a picture with me so Allison Trousdale got pulled into this one while she is holding Erin.

Backpack

Matthew loves when his daddy comes home. Sometimes Chris doesn't think the excitement isn't over him. Matthew loves to carry Chris' backpack around the house. Many times though Chris has to take books out so he can move it. This time he wanted it on his back just like daddy. As you can tell the first picture has a few too many books in it for him. We had to take them out so he wouldn't topple over.

Honey

Chris and I refer to each other as honey all the time. Matthew has recently started picking that up as well. We couldn't understand what he was saying for a long time because things didn't make sense be we finally put two and two together and realized that he is actually calling us honey. Instead of getting our attention with mommy or daddy he says honey honey. It is a good thing that we don't call each other bad names:)
You have got to love your kids...sometimes.

Family Trip

A couple weeks ago we drove to San Antonio to visit some friends that recently moved there. Brenda and I were best friends growing up and our husbands have had to become friends because of us. Brenda and Andrew have two little kids, Kyla, 3 years old and Brevan who is two months younger then Matthew. As Kyla was playing with her castle, Matthew kept taking the other pieces she wasn't playing with at the time and dropping them behind the castle. He did this numerous times and it drove Kyla absolutely crazy. I am sure she was glad when she got to get rid of this nuisance of hers. We had a great time with them and look forward to visiting them again. They took us to The Alamo which I did not know it was downtown San Antonio. I thought it was a battlefield out in the middle of nowhere. Nope, the city grew around it. They obviously did not actually film the movie there, or there would have been skyscrapers around it. But then again, when do they ever film something where it is actually suppose to be? We also went to the River Walk which is a canal/river right through downtown and there are sidewalks and restaurants right next to it. It would be a really fun place to go spend an Anniversary weekend at if you actually lived there. The worst part about the whole trip is that I forgot the camera so you just get to imagine all of this. We did take some pictures with Brenda and Andrew's camera but forgot to get them off of the camera before we left so if we do ever get those pictures then I will post them.
