Problems with Posts

I have been trying to upload pictures for about two weeks now and they won't upload. I had Chris delete a bunch of stuff on my computer and now I am thinking that some program he deleted, was needed to upload. So I am still trying to figure it out and post. I haven't forgotten about the blog, just having problems.

Basketball Accomplishments

The big accomplishments today in basketball were that:
1) Allison not only made her first basket (the basket is at 8ft and it is hard for her to shoot that high) but she made 4!!!! Her coach was working with her before the game.
2) Matthew made his first basket in the game!!!! I definitely saw progress in just one week with both of them.

Everything has to be NBA licensed.
We don't get to keep the uniforms AND if anything happens to them we have to pay $70 for them.....even though we got them in a package at the beginning of the year.

I feel bad that I haven't posted at all this year but we just haven't done anything since the beginning of the year. We have been staying inside, and staying warm. I don't like cold weather!!!
The kids finally started back to school on Monday the 6th. They were happy to go back, especially Allison because she really missed her teacher, Mrs. Snider. Allison had lots of hearts for her teacher, Assistant teacher, Mrs. Yurig, AND for Matthew's teacher, Ms. Curfman.
Tuesday and Wednesday were really cold in the morning so we had a two-hour delay for both days and I absolutely loved not having to get up quite so early, but yet they still went to school and came home the same time. If I had a vote, I would have school start later but only go for 4.5 hours:)
It has been rainy and icy a lot this week but we were able to make it to basketball practice on Tuesday night. The kids had their first basketball game on Saturday. I can't believe how into it everybody gets. The game before the kids, they knew what they were doing, I thought they were in the league above us, but unfortunately they are not.
Matthew and Allison play on the Pee Wee Bulls team. I couldn't believe their uniforms have the NBA logo on them. I am having a hard time coming to grips with things are more expensive here then TX. For TX we only paid $40 for Matthew to play soccer and he got to keep his uniform. Here, it cost $100 to play basketball and they have to turn their uniforms in at the end of the season.
(Another Example: For swimming lessons in TX it was $35 for 45 mins. VA it was $80 for 30 mins....and the teacher was TERRIBLE here in VA)
When we had "try outs" for teams and everybody in the league was there with their parents in a gym, I have NEVER felt like such a minority. It was interesting. The kids and I were the only white people in the whole school. I was just hoping that nobody cared that we were there.
At practices, it hasn't been all that weird, we are getting more and more used to it, but there are only 8 other families so it isn't all that many.
However, on Saturday with two teams the played before us and the two teams that played after us, there were a lot of people. Yes, we were a minority and many times I wonder if they think we should be there or not but at the games it was a little fun because we saw about 5 different people from Matthew and Allison's class there as well as our next door neighbors and our neighbors that live about 5 houses down. I had only met the mom before, come to find out that her youngest is on the Bulls teams also. That was kind of fun so I felt like I kind of has some acquaintances there.
Watching them play basketball wasn't nearly as hard as watching Matthew play soccer his first year. It was cute and funny watching these kids. It is a good thing that there is no traveling or double dribble in this league or they wouldn't get anywhere.

Before the game started they realized that our team was wearing the wrong color so we had to switch them around.

They have ten on the team so basically two teams that he just completely rotates out and in.

However, at the last four minutes of the game the coach can play whomever he wants......hence the reason my kids are on the bench. I have lots of work to do with them.
The girl next to Matthew is Theresa, our neighbor 5 house down.

Theresa's mom kept saying, the only thing that matters is this game and the last game to see if they have progressed. She played High School and College and her daughter wasn't any better then Allison so she was feeling my pain as well:)

I guess I should mention that they won by 6 or 7, I don't know but that just means that this season is already a better season then soccer was.



They had fun playing but they really liked that they won too, so that is a positive that sometimes you have sacrifice your playing time to help the team.
They are learning things like taking the ball out after a shot is made. My kids really have no clue. I decided that not only do I need to be outside teaching them more, I also need to watch it more so they can get an idea of what is suppose to happen. They have watches a lot of football with me, but no basketball. Hopefully I can see some progression at the end of the season.
