He is our Father and Knows us Best

I went to enrichment last week and there was a guy that came to talk to us. During that talk, a lady told of a story when her son was younger he wanted to stick stuff into the plug-ins. She obviously didn't let him even thought he REALLY wanted to. She knew what was best for him. She likened it to our Heavenly Father and he is our parent and he knows us better then we know ourselves. He knows what is best for us. Even though we REALLY want something that may not be the best thing for us.
I have been thinking about this a lot this last week and it has really hit me. I have been wanting to have a baby for over two years now. It is just not happening. We pray and fast and have had three miscarriages but still no baby. After hearing this, it has made me realize that it is in Heavenly Father's hands. He knows us better then we do and maybe we can't handle anything else, which is how I feel many days when my kids don't listen. However, realizing this helped me talk to Allison. She has been praying that a baby would come to our family. I started telling her to start praying, if it by thy will please send us a baby. Last night after we said prayers and I tucked her in
she said, "Mommy, Heavenly Father doesn't answer prayers."
"What makes you say that sweetie?"
"Because we have been praying for a baby and we still don't have one."
"Oh, sweetheart, he does hear and answer all of our prayers. You know how sometimes you want to do something and mommy or daddy says you can't do it? We know what is best for you. Our Heavenly Father knows what is best for our family. Maybe mommy or daddy can't handle another little baby in the family. We don't know what is best for us, but Heavenly Father does. We just have to trust that he will take care of us."
I am so grateful that this has finally clicked. I hate being in limbo, are we going to have more kids or not but you know what, that isn't up to me. Heavenly Father knows us best and he will help us be the best we can. I am thankful for this knowledge.

Nothing Important

My blog has been suffering. I still can't post from picasa anymore but I don't really feel like I have anything worth while to write or blog about. I guess I need to check my camera and see if there are any pictures on there.
My kids have been out of school for 8 snow days now. We might get some more snow two different times this week. I don't mind the snow, I just wish the whole city of Richmond didn't shut down when it snowed.
I have been the YW girls basketball coach this year. I think we have lost twice, once for sure. There are usually 10 or 11 girls that show up each Saturday to play. I have a couple that play for school or community. I didn't know what to expect but they have done pretty well for being church ball. I learned that I don't like being the "coach". I would rather play myself then tell them what to do. I have also learned that school ball and church ball is COMPLETELY different. In school you have to be there when the practice starts EVERY time and if you don't work hard then you don't play. With church, you don't have to do anything or show up ever and you still get to play. It drives me crazy but I am trying to just endure it.
Saturdays have been crazy for us because I have my games that I have to coach and the kids have their games that they play. I have only had to miss two of their games. Though on Saturday I had to miss their game and they won with a buzzer beating shot. What a close game....and Chris didn't even watch it. He can't stand watching any kind of sports, especially his kids when they have no idea what they are doing. He just prepared his YM lesson during that time. He said it was really loud and annoying. I do have to say, it gets pretty intense at the games.
Chris' group of priests think Chris is great and love when he is the one that gives the lesson. He is real and that is what they need, says a mom of one of the Priests. He has a pretty good group of boys.
So Chris has mutual now on Wednesday nights since the new year. With that, I also had Young Women Basketball practice before that, Allison has Girls Scouts every other Wednesday, and I have been playing Volleyball on Wednesday nights. As if that isn't enough, my pool boards meetings are also on Wednesday nights. Last year when mutual was on Thursday night it all worked out fine but with the changes it has made Wednesday nights too crazy busy that I have to give up Volleyball for right now. I LOVE my team and LOVE playing once a week but it was just too much on our schedules.
We had a frozen water pipe break on Jan. 24th. Thankfully we have house insurance that is suppose to be taken care of everything. Everything got dried out and torn up....but that is it so far. A month later and nothing still has happened. Oh well, it could have been worse.
We went to the first baptism of Matthew's primary class. There are 13 kids getting baptized this year. Since there are so many, they are just doing one a month. Matthew will be getting baptized on April 26th, so I am starting to think about that.
I small achievement that I have had is that I have gone withOUT desserts for 6 weeks now. I haven't necessarily lost a lot of weight but I think I might be a sweet addict since I don't have any self control when desserts are around but something happened this time when I stopped that it has actually stuck this time. I miss it every day and want to eat it but I have gone this long without I am curious how long I will go. For someone who doesn't have any self control with desserts this is huge. (My birthday and valentines day has been in the last six weeks also.) I have made rice krispie treats, many different cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and even a pecan pie, we have bought chocolate bars from our neighbor for a fundraiser and we have girl scout cookies that I have been able to pass up!!!! I am trying to be healthier and even my kids say, "Mom, you can't have that."

Finally Something

I have been trying to post these pictures for about 5 weeks but now I will just have to do it a different way then what I had been doing.
I will see how this works.
This was our first snow that we got this winter. Surprisingly the kids still had school. I put the kids on the bus and came back and took some pictures.

Hopefully I can get some more posts up.

Work in Progress

I still can't upload my pictures in Picasa to my blog so I am going to have to figure out a different way to upload pictures so that I can keep this family journal going and not get too backed up. Sorry for the delays if anybody ever checks anymore.
