Gettysburg - Join the Army (Picture Overload)

Chris had to go do something so I was just looking around with the kids. Somebody that worked there mentioned that we HAD to do the Join the Army session. I wasn't too sure what it was but they said it was for the kids. We went to were we needed to be and asked what it was about. We had to sign the kids up to join the army and then we had to report at that time. It was a three year contract and on the papers that the kids had to turn in, they put that Matthew was a scholar before joining the army and Allison was a princess. I guess those two occupations weren't doing well and they needed to switch careers or something:) We were able to do the movie, cyclorama, and museum before it was time for the kids to report.
This was an hour long session that explained what a soldier did and the kids enjoyed it.

They turned in their papers and got their caps.

Then they got muskets and were taught how to use them.

Look at these little soldiers all lined up.

They learned how to do the 9 steps of loading this musket.

Matthew getting his papers of completion of his three years of service.
Allison got papers and completed her three years also but they called her name first and I wasn't ready:)

The kids had SUCH a great time and they loved getting to do it.
It was a great thing for them to be involved in.
