Roller Skating

The kids had another fundraiser at their school to go Roller Skating. I LOVE these fundraisers.
We had one at the end of last year too but I didn't take my camera and really wished I had. This year I took it and finally got some pictures.
The kids have been asking to go back to Ashland Skateland ever since last year.
There were still a lot of tears from falling so much but not as much as last time.
They had a GREAT time and it was a fun family event.

They were on the side or wall a lot but also on the floor.

At least there is a smile with this fall.

Oh, Oh, OH.....and he is UP!!!

whoa, whoa, whoa, careful...

I LOVE our Principal here. She is so involved and just loves being with the kids. It seems that everybody really likes her, teachers included, and that makes a better school I think.
It is so cool that she will skate with the kids even when they are not good skaters.
Do you see that HUGE smile on Allison's face? Yep, she loved skating with Mrs. Brinkley too.

Look mom, I am not holding on to the wall.

There were a lot of crashes, even into the wall.

Look how cute we are:)

AND SHE IS UP....

Easy, rock star, you are pretty far away from that wall.

LOOK AT ME....NO WALL!!!

At the end they had the sock race. I was hoping they would have the sock dance like they did last time but they didn't. It is still a good way for the kids to be willing to take off their skates.

It was another successful night and no bones broken, just a few bruises.

Kindergarten Field Trip

Allison had her first field trip today in Kindergarten. They went to Ashland Berry Farm. They got the form to fill out while I was in TX and it kind of got put on the back burner. When I went through it, it said that chaperones were first come would get to do it. Since it has already been two or three weeks I was sure that all the spots would be filled. When I got the ok to be a chaperone I was SUPER excited.
I was so happy to be able to go with her. I think I may have been looking forward to this field trip more then she, and that is saying a lot. I just wanted to opportunity to go be with her all day, while with her friends.
I got to meet Elianna today. Allison talks about Elianna all the time and plays with her at recess a lot. It was fun to meet her and her mom was a chaperone as well so I got to visit with her throughout the day. Allison just loves being around Elianna.

One of these things is not like the other one.....:)

Can you tell we live in Richmond?

She was so excited to get on the hayride.

I have really enjoyed seeing all of the colors of the trees. It is amazing that it has been 12 years since I have really seen fall and the changing of leaves. I am in awe every time I am driving somewhere. My favorite is the red leaves. I need to get a picture of those.
This was on our hayride out to the pumpkin patch. I finally got a picture of some autumn leaves.

These three girls were the ones I was in charge of today, Nyeta, Kylie and Allison.
(I don't know if I actually ever said Nyeta's name right all day. Allison corrected me on something every time I said it.)

Found my pumpkin!!!

Ok, but mom it is so dirty, why do I have to hold it?

This was cute watching them hold hands as they were walking, I just had to get a picture.

On our way back from the pumpkin patch, on the hayride, the kids were singing:
The rules, the rules, the rules of the classroom
the rules, the rules, the rules of the classroom
Don't hit.....
I can't remember the rest, though I should because they just sang it over and over and over.
I was actually really enjoying it. It was SO cute to hear all of them singing it and having fun.
Maybe I will ask Allison sometime to update this and help me with the song.
Here she is singing.

We had a fun time and I am so glad that I got to go with her.
It is quite chilly today but I am glad it wasn't raining and REALLY cold.
I had fun being with my baby girl today and I think she loved it too.

Sunrise

One morning, Matthew came down the stairs and noticed the beautiful sunrise and asked if we could get a picture so here it is.

With the flash on

 With the flash off...

It changes colors so quickly.

Wolf Cub Scout

While I was gone to TX, Matthew had his first Cub Scout den meeting as a Wolf.
Chris was thinking ahead and thought, Steph would want a picture so he took this me to have.
He does still have the Tiger cognition on his pocket that we need to take off but he is moved up in the world of scouting. He does have his Tiger badge but I hadn't sewn it on yet apparently but it is on there now.

He is having fun in Cub Scouts which is not surprising.
He LOVES it:)

Reading Time

Chris came downstairs and said that I needed to go up and take a picture.
They were under Matthew's blanket and Matthew was reading a story to Allison.
Very sweet:)

Once he heard the camera he had to look of course.

Henrico Hermitage Park - Colonial Village

After we visited the Indian Village we walked over to the soldier's village.
They got to try on the hat of their armor.

The guy showed us how the musket really worked. It was scary that they would have all of those cans of gun power on them and yet they carried around a rope that was burning so that they could set their guns off. They had to be very careful.

All of those black canisters is the exact amount needed for one shot.

He let the kids hold the musket.

They went up in the fort/lookout.

Showed us how they lived every day and let the kids "use" the axe.

They got to water the garden with an olden-day watering can.

Informed us how they stored their meat (in the chimney area) and told us how they lived.

It was interested and fun to be able to see their little community.
I am glad that we got to go.
