Matthew has had a bit of struggling in school these last couple years. In 3rd grade it was focusing. This year it is doing what he is suppose to. He tends to have his own agenda as to what he is going to do at school, which usually consists of reading, reading, and more reading. However, that is not what needs to be done at school so he gets fussed at a lot. Though he says he doesn't like to be fussed at (who does) but he doesn't do the things he is suppose to like staying in his seat. He thinks that just because Mrs. Buyas said to stay in his seat, what he needs to do is SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT.
We have been working with him and he is doing much better. He is not getting fussed at nearly as much, maybe once a day, if that. So he is figuring it out. He is really liking not getting fussed at and doesn't think that Mrs. Buyas hates him anymore.
Matthew can be so sweet sometimes and so grumpy many times. His emotions are kind of like a roller coaster. I don't like when the roller coaster goes down.
He is a good kid most the time but can change to a sour mood pretty quickly. We are learning to just send him to his room before he explodes. He calms down and is able to deal with what is going on much better.
He reads all the time.
He loves to help people especially on their work at school.
His favorite sport is Soccer.
He has learned Teach Me to Walk in the Light,
I Am a Child of God, and I Need Thee Every Hour in the simplified Hymn book. He has also learned Book of Mormon Stories WHICH he has accompanied the Sr. primary on one day in singing time. He is learning I Am Like a Star, as well as Star Wars, Harry Potter and Nintendo Theme Songs. He is a really good piano player and I am always amazed how quickly he can pick up the songs. Not super fast but probably faster than I can do so I am impressed by it.
I call him my reference guide in Primary because he will let us know, in a nice way, if we say something incorrectly. He politely told the president she had something wrong when she was doing a sharing time, and has corrected us other times on words and such in songs.
